Finalists for 2017 MVP, Rookie of the Year, Cy Young, and Manager of the Year awards announced

There were a few snubs (perceived or real), as usual.

Finalists for baseball’s top awards have been announced, with the BBWAA announcing the shortlists for MVP, Cy Young, Rookie of the Year, and Manager of the Year. There are some snubs, as per usual, and one name not on any list that feels wrong not because he should be there this year, but because of how frequently he was there in years prior.

Below, this year’s nominees for the AL and NL in each category.

AL MVP

That makes this the first time in his six full MLB seasons that Mike Trout won’t be first or second in MVP voting. He played only 114 games this year due to injury.

NL MVP

The lack of either Nolan Arenado or Charlie Blackmon is currently raising some eyebrows, as one of them probably should have been included on that list.

AL Manager of the Year

  • Terry Francona, Indians
  • Paul Molitor, Twins
  • AJ Hinch, Astros

NL Manager of the Year

What are your thoughts on the nominees? Would you change any of these finalists?
