Roy Halladay, the Blue Jays and Phillies great, died on Tuesday in a plane crash on the Gulf Coast of Florida.

After the tragic news was confirmed, friends, admirers, and players around the league stopped to mourn Halladay.
The Phillies released a statement on his passing, saying they are “numb” from the news and “there are no words” to describe what the Phillies family is feeling right now.
The Blue Jays, where he spent most of his career, said that the organization is “overcome by grief” at the loss of Halladay.
Other clubs joined in, wishing condolences and remembering Halladay’s greatness.
Shane Victorino, who was teammates with Halladay from 2010 to 2012, at first wished that the news was not true on Twitter before saying goodbye to Halladay once the news was confirmed. He said he was “blessed to have shared the field” with Halladay and is praying for the family.
Other players from around the league shared similar sentiments about the loss.
An overarching message from those remembering Halladay was how many remembered him inspiring them as they grew up, how amazing he was to watch, and how many of them wanted to be like him on the mound.
Baseball reporters and journalists also offered their condolences and remembered Roy.
Other Philadelphia teams and players offered their condolences as well.
Suffice to say this is a tragic and awful day for all of baseball. RIP Roy.
