On a day that former Indians slugger Carlos Santana was introduced in Philadelphia as the Phillies’ new first baseman, Cleveland has reportedly filled its void at first base, agreeing to terms with Yonder Alonso, per multiple reports.

The deal was first reported by Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Alonso will make a reported $16 million over two years, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, plus an option for 2020.

Alonso had a career year in 2017, hitting .266/.365/.501 with 28 home runs and 22 doubles while splitting time between the Athletics and Mariners. Prior to last season Alonso had 38 career home runs in parts of seven seasons, never more than nine in any year.

The left-handed batter turns 31 in April.

Santana signed a three-year, $60 million contract with the Phillies that also includes a club option for 2021. The switch-hitting Santana hit .259/.363/.455 with 23 home runs and 37 doubles in 2017 for the Indians, and in his seven full seasons in Cleveland hit .249/.363/.455 while averaging 24 home runs, 32 doubles and 98 walks per season.

Alonso is a career .277/.349/.421 hitter against right-handed pitchers, including .282/.383/.517 in 2017, with 23 of his 28 home runs against righties.
