The second round of the 2017 World Baseball Classic pool play is underway, and on Wednesday night, the United States will match up against one of the most talented teams in the tournament. In a Pool F matchup taking place at Petco Park in San Diego, the U.S. (2-1 in the first round of pool play) will face Venezuela (2-2).

The U.S. had a strong outing in Round 1, beating Colombia by a score of 3-2 and massacring Canada in an 8-0, with a 7-5 loss to the Dominican Republic sandwiched in between.
For Venezuela, the road to Round 2 was far more difficult. Going 1-2 in its first three matchups, with a run differential of -12, it took a late comeback win in a tiebreaker matchup against Italy for Venezuela to survive the first round of action.
