Ichiro homered in possibly his final at-bat in Seattle

Some things are just meant to be.

Ichiro Suzuki just had what will likely be his last at-bat at Safeco Park. He hit a home run!!

Ichiro may play with the Marlins now, but he spent 12 seasons in Seattle with the Mariners. He was one of the most beloved Mariners ever, and he’s still got a lot of fans in Seattle.

This was his 54th home run at Safeco Field, tied with Edgar Martinez for fifth-most in the park, which opened in 1999.

Ichiro went 2 for 4 on Wednesday. His 1,240 hits are more than anyone else at Safeco, too.

Also, in case you lost count, he’s 43 (and 179 days). The only two players older than that to homer in Seattle are Dave Winfield and Carlton Fisk, and they did it at the old Kingdome.

Here’s the dugout celebrating.

Ichiro wants to keep playing until he’s 50. And then? “I’ll just die,” he’s said.

Hopefully not! Maybe he can go back to Seattle.
