Noah Syndergaard looks to continue his hot start for the New York Mets, who conclude their weekend series against the Miami Marlins on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball from Citi Field in New York.

Syndergaard, who finished eighth in National League Cy Young Award balloting in 2016, opened this season with six scoreless innings against the Atlanta Braves in a no-decision on Monday, with seven strikeouts and no walks.
That continued a trend from last season of poor run support for Syndergaard at home, where he lost six of his last seven decisions at Citi Field in 2016, thanks in part to the Mets scoring seven total runs in those six losses.
Syndergaard is 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA in three career starts against the Marlins, with 29 strikeouts against only two walks in 20 innings.
But he’s not the only starting pitcher carrying a 0.00 ERA into Sunday’s game. Edinson Volquez, who signed a two-year, $22 million contract as a free agent with Miami in November, opened his Marlins career with five scoreless frames on the road against the Washington Nationals on opening day, with six strikeouts and one walk.
The Mets won 12 of the 19 matchups against the Marlins in 2016, including six wins in 10 games in New York.
