It seems hard to believe that we are already in a third major league season without Derek Jeter, but the future Hall of Fame shortstop will be back in the national spotlight on Sunday, getting his jersey retired by the New York Yankees.

We already knew this was an important event, with ESPN having contributor Sarina Morales at Yankee Stadium during the 8 a.m. ET SportsCenter. But the all-day nature of Derek Jeter Night came into even more focus on Saturday when the Yankees announced that their game against the Houston Astros was rained out.

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Sunday, though only fans with tickets to the already-scheduled Sunday night game will be able to get in on Sunday for both games.

The first game of the doubleheader starts at 2:05 p.m., with the Jeter retirement ceremony starting at 6:35 p.m., then the second game no earlier than 7:35 p.m.

ESPN will televise the full retirement ceremony plus the second game of the doubleheader against the Astros, with its Sunday Night Baseball crew of Dan Shulman, Aaron Boone, Jessica Mendoza, and Buster Olney on the broadcast.

In addition, segments from a Karl Ravech interview with Jeter will be played throughout the pregame show on ESPN before the second game.

The retirement ceremony and second game of the doubleheader will be streamed online through WatchESPN.

The Yankees on Derek Jeter Night will retire his No. 2 jersey, worn throughout his 20-year MLB career, and also unveil his plaque in Monument Park just beyond center field at Yankee Stadium. Jeter is the 22nd Yankees player to have his number retired, the most of any other franchise in baseball.
