New York Yankees rookie slugger Aaron Judge had an eventful Wednesday against the New York Mets. He homered for the second time in three games, showing signs of breaking out of his slump. But Judge also set a dubious strikeout record in the process.
Aaron Judge sets single-season strikeout streak record
33 straight games with a whiff

Judge was 2-for-5 on the night, including a 457-foot no-doubt home run into the upper reaches of Citi Field. But in the ninth inning against Mets reliever Erik Goeddel, Judge struck out swinging, extending his streak to 33 consecutive games with a whiff.
That’s one more game than Adam Dunn in 2013, the record for most consecutive games with a strikeout. Though it should be noted that Dunn’s streak is actually 36 games, stretching back to the end of the 2012 season.
Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner spoke with reporters before Wednesday’s game about the state of the American League wild card leaders, and touched upon Judge, hitting .185/.346/.398 since the All-Star break.
Judge on the season is hitting .291/.420/.614 with 37 home runs, still leading the American League in home runs, slugging percentage, and OPS.
