John Lackey stole his first career base at 38 years old

He then got picked off for trying to steal another one.

John Lackey is a 38-year-old pitcher who has never been known for being a particularly lithe baseball player. He’s not the most in shape, or the most jacked, or the most speedy person on the field.

In fact, if John Lackey never stole a base throughout his entire career nobody would have batted an eye and everybody would go on with their lives as normal.

But he did, and it didn’t even happen while a pitch was being thrown, so the people (if they exist) who have been waiting all their lives to see John Lackey steal a base can die in peace now.

Yes, at 38 years young and with the pitcher just standing on the mound, Lackey made it from first to second without being tagged out. The entertainment value of his slide into second base makes the entire thing worth it.

Of course, Lackey got a little full of himself after that and tried to steal another one, promptly getting picked off. So, back to normal John Lackey activities.
