Nelson Cruz exiled a baseball to the edges of the universe with this home run
That ball had a family, Nelson.

Pray for this baseball’s family, because it’s never coming home. Nelson Cruz, destroyer of baseballs and also opponent’s dreams, absolutely crushed a ball against the Rays on Friday.
He smashed it into the second deck of the stadium ... and it reached the concourse. The ball traveled 482 feet and is the longest home run ever recorded at Tropicana Field.
How do you even describe that besides the fact that it may have permanently altered the alignment of the field’s structure, possibly affected the rotation of the earth, and might cause the total eclipse on Monday to last a full two minutes longer.
Statcast estimated the ball’s speed off the bat at 116 mph as well, which is faster than many people have ever traveled in a car or even thought about it. This ball was obliterated.
On top of all the other impressive stats, it was also the 3rd-longest home run recorded in Mariners history.
Whoever got that ball on the concourse should probably watch it for a few days at home to make sure all that power didn’t inadvertently turn it into a tesseract or something.
