Stephen Strasburg hit a home run and now the Nationals think they’re cool

Take a breath, you guys.

During the Nationals’ win against the Marlins on Wednesday, Stephen Strasburg put on a show both offensively and defensively.

Besides his complete-game shutout pitching performance, Strasburg also jacked a home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to help his own cause in the 4-0 win. The homer finally put Washington on the board en route to the final score.

It was the third one of his career and his second one this season. A cool occasion, but an earthquake didn’t open up a rift beneath the field begging for human sacrifice after he hit it or anything.

Since the Nats were facing current home run maestro Giancarlo Stanton, the matchup was of course a focus before the game.

So after the game, when it turned out that Strasburg had hit a dinger and Stanton (for once) did not, the Nationals’ Twitter account decided to point that out in the most un-chill way possible.

Guys, relax. It’s not like just because Strasburg homered and Stanton didn’t you now get to add Stanton to your team like this is a middle school game of kickball with funny rules.

Giancarlo Stanton still belongs to the Marlins, and it’ll probably be five more seasons until Strasburg homers again. If you want to have that level of Twitter swagger you have to at least make it to an NLCS or something.
