Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, a Bronx native and noted Yankees fan, attended New York’s game against rival Red Sox on Thursday night in the Bronx.
Justice Sonia Sotomayor had a blast cheering on the Yankees from the ‘Judge’s Chambers’
She even wore a Yankees-themed robe.

That on its own would be fun news but what makes it far better is that Sotomayor took advantage of her status as a judge while rooting for New York star Aaron Judge.
There have been many judge puns in circulation ever since he broke out this season, including signs that say “All Rise,” a section in right field called the Judge’s Chambers, and many other justice-related plays on words, both online and at the stadium.
Sotomayor embraced all of that silly fun in her outing to Yankee Stadium, sitting in the Judge’s Chambers with a huge smile on her face, surrounded by an “All Rise” sign and clearly getting invested in the game. Which would be expected for any Bronx native watching the Yanks against the Sox.
The best part, by far, is that she fully committed to the “judge” connection and wore a Yankees-themed judge’s robe, carried fake gavels, and was just so excited to be there.
It’s a perfect example of how to have fun at a baseball game, and she’s almost certainly Judge’s most high-profile law-related fan yet. If the Yankees go on an extended win streak after this she might have to start showing up more often. Save her some playoff tickets!
Baseball fans should already have a soft spot for Sotomayor, as her landmark ruling ended baseball’s 1994 strike, and watching someone with such a serious day job let loose and have some fun with puns only makes her more enjoyable.
