Kris Bryant made some impressive Cubs history with his latest home run
He accomplished something no Cub has in franchise history.

With a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to put Chicago up 5-1 over the Braves, Bryant became the only player in franchise history to hit at least 25 home runs in his first three seasons in the major leagues.
Yes, in the Cubs’ entire 104-year history of playing baseball no player has ever put up 25 home runs or more in their first three seasons. That’s pretty impressive!
Bryant accomplished the feat by hitting 26 homers in his Rookie of the Year-worthy season, with a much-improved 39 dingers last year which helped power him to an NL MVP win.
While this year’s home run total is down from Bryant’s 2016 campaign, he still has over a month to go and could reach a total of 30 if his offense perks up a little for the next few weeks of the season.
Earlier this year, Bryant became only the fourth Cub to have three 20-home run seasons by the age of 25, joining current teammate Anthony Rizzo as well as Ron Santo and Billy Williams.
In just his third year, Bryant is also only 11 home runs away from entering the top 20 of all-time Cubs home run leaders. Again, he was born in 1992. He could reach that threshold before he turns 26, depending on Chicago’s postseason.
And if next year he returns to the same level he was at for the entire 2016 season? Watch out.
