This Craig Sager video from Rocktober has all the feels

10 years ago, the Rockies were on fire in September and October

The Colorado Rockies are celebrating the 10-year anniversary of their National League pennant-winning team this weekend, and amid the festivities the team tweeted out a cool video featuring Todd Helton, Matt Holliday and the late Craig Sager.

Those Rockies in 2007 had one of the great finishing runs in recent memory, coining “Rocktober” by finishing the regular season by winning 13 out of 14 just to force a one-game playoff for the Wild Card. Colorado beat the San Diego Padres in walk-off fashion in that play-in game, after which Sager conducted this interview for TBS.

Sager, who passed away in December 2016 after a lengthy battle with leukemia, was more known for his NBA coverage, but his career contained multitudes. He covered more than his fair share of baseball, including when Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth’s all-time home run record in Atlanta in 1974.

Sager had a knack for being at big sporting events.

Those Rockies continued their hot play into October a decade ago, sweeping both the NLDS and NLCS to win 21 of 22 games heading into the World Series. They fell short of the ultimate goal in the fall classic, getting swept by the Boston Red Sox, but Rocktober was still plenty memorable, and it is nice to see one of the highlight moments celebrated above.
