During Game 3 of the NLDS between the Braves and Dodgers, Atlanta fans knew that their team would have to finally figure out a way to wake up at the plate if they wanted to make it a series with LA. They didn’t end up making it a series but they did wake up for one game before going down in Game 4.
A Braves fan kept her promise to get Ronald Acuña, Jr.’s face as a tattoo after his NLDS grand slam
A promise is a promise.

As Ronald Acuña, Jr. stepped to the plate with the bases loaded in the bottom of the second inning in Atlanta, moments from hitting a grand slam to put the Braves up 5-1 in the game, one fan already had a feeling that he could be about to send that ball right over the heads of every outfielder. So she tweeted a (probably) joking promise that if he did it she’d get his face tattooed on her arm.
That “no lie” really came back to bite her when he actually did it. Despite reminding everyone that she’d made a promise or joke in this style for other players throughout the season she realized she was backed into a corner and had to do it. So she put out the word for Venmo contributions (which are going to the Braves Foundation) and good tattoo artist requests. It certainly seemed like she was going through with it for real.
And she did!
Unfortunately it doesn’t look like Acuña made it to the parlor to be emotionally supportive.
But now she’ll have Acuña with her all the time, just hanging out on her wrist. It’s a good likeness of him, and if you were choosing a current Brave to get permanently put on your body you probably couldn’t do better than Acuña, who will have a long and successful career in Atlanta god willing.
The real hero of this story though? Caitlin’s grandmother.
