Lorenzo Cain shows off and robs David Freese of a sure 2-run homer

Lo Cain is good at his job.

At the beginning of the year, Lorenzo Cain signed a 5-year, $80 million contract in Milwaukee that would — if it all worked out — would have him expertly defending right field at Miller Park for the next few years.

Well, it’s definitely worked out and in NLCS Game 2 against the Dodgers, Cain robbed LA’s David Freese of what would have been a SURE two-run home run by making a great jumping catch at the wall. We all know Cain is good at defense but it’s awfully nice when he reminds us with a play like this.

As with many “oh wow he did that” plays, you’ll want to watch it a few times. Because it’s obviously an impressive and cool catch, but also because he makes it look so easy you’ll want to watch how smooth he is as much as you can. The rest of the game can wait.

He closes his eyes right when he catches it too. The ball was already on the way into his glove and perfectly lined up and it might have just been an involuntary blink (poor timing, reflexes!) but if not that’s even more impressive that at the last second he had to shut his eyes briefly and still pulled it off.

This more than makes up for his mistake during Game 1, which luckily didn’t cost the Brewers the game, where he had a ball in his glove and it went right back out again giving the Dodgers another run and a man on third late in the game.
