George Springer messed with Adrian Beltre before smashing his Opening Day dinger

Nothing but respect for my World Series MVP.

The only thing better than a spring dinger is a Springer Dinger with some light trolling sprinkled on top.

World Series MVP George Springer kicked off his 2018 season with an Opening Day home run, which was awesome. It looks like that Astros are picking up right where they left off in the fall so everybody else should watch out.

Before he hit the home run though, Springer had some fun with Rangers’ third baseman Adrian Beltre. Beltre, notoriously, likes to have fun when he wants to have fun and not when other people want to have fun with him (i.e. touching his head uninvited).

Before stepping in for the at-bat, Springer looked towards Beltre and mimed bunting towards him, laughed, and then gestured to his stomach.

This is all in good fun so Beltre probably took it well, and if there’s any day where you can fully goof off on the diamond without tensions arising it’s Opening Day. No one has a record, everyone’s just excited to be back on the field, and maybe they’ll get to troll their opponents who they have good relationships with.

Or they’ll crack a home run in the opposite direction and live to troll another day like Springer. Part of me does wish he just got on base and eventually got to third so that Beltre could give him hell back. Another time, hopefully.
