That Giancarlo Stanton trade might work out for the Yankees after all

You can practically feel every other team dramatically rolling their eyes.

This trade might just work out after all!

Some Yankees youngster, an up-and-comer named Giancarlo Stanton they stole away from the Marlins as part of a deal built around Starlin Castro, hit two home runs on Opening Day to lead New York to a 6-1 victory over the Blue Jays.

He really made a name for himself by going 3-for-5 at the plate with four RBI, including those two absolutely crushed baseballs.

On both home runs, the ball looked like home plate had a restraining order against it and it had to leave the premises as fast and emphatically as possible.

The first one was a certified smash but the second one was ... hoooooo boy. This marked the first time someone had hit multiple home runs in their first game as a Yankee since Roger Maris in 1960. Pretty good for someone who is barely known in the league because he played in — I think my notes say Miami? Is there a team in Indiana I don’t know about? Weird.

Everyone kept the new guy humble with a silent treatment after the second bomb, which is only fair. Wouldn’t want him getting any designs on hitting 59 home runs in one season or anything. He should just take things slow and keep his head down, hopefully for fans in New York this won’t be a flash in the pan.
