The Dodgers will host the 2020 MLB All-Star Game
It will mark the 40th anniversary of the last time they hosted.

Get ready to brave the California heat if you’re attending the MLB All-Star Game in 2020, everyone. Because as expected, one of the worst kept “secrets” in baseball is set to be formally announced by Commissioner Manfred tomorrow. According to the LA Times, the Dodgers will have the honor of hosting the Summer Classic two seasons from now.
This year, of course, the Nationals will host and next year the Indians have the nod before the Dodgers will get it for the first time in four decades. The only other competition for the 2020 game was the Cubs and Wrigley Field, who last hosted in 1990.
Part of the reasoning of not having the Cubs get the next opportunity to host may have something to do with the ongoing renovations of the park in Chicago. With those fixes ongoing, and the 40th anniversary of the Dodgers’ last time hosting, it makes sense to give LA the game in 2020 and possibly keep the Cubs at the top of the rotation for the season or two after that.
In any case, the recent World Series runners-up will have hosting duties two years from now and hopefully their roster will remain as fun and stacked as it is right now so multiple players will have the opportunity to be all-stars in front of LA fans.
