For the first time in eight years there will be regular-season games in Puerto Rico, with the Cleveland Indians and Minnesota Twins scheduled for two games at Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Fox Sports 1 will televised Tuesday’s game, with ESPN televising Wednesday night’s contest.

The last time major league regular-season games were played in Puerto Rico was 2010 when the New York Mets and Florida Marlins went south for a three-game series. Cleveland and Minnesota will mark the fifth such MLB trip to Puerto Rico.

Indians all-star shortstop Francisco Lindor was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, one of 19 players from Puerto Rico on major league opening day rosters in 2018.

“It is a dream come true for me to play in Puerto Rico,” Lindor said last June when the trip was announced. “When the Montreal Expos played in Puerto Rico, I remember going to those games and thinking to myself, ‘I would love to be here playing in front of my country and people.’ Now that we have the opportunity next April, it is a dream realized for me. These will be the most memorable regular-season games of my career, for sure.”

Indians catcher Roberto Perez is also from Puerto Rico, as are Minnesota pitcher Jose Berrios and outfielder Eddie Rosario. Berrios is scheduled to start Wednesday for the Twins, who were ready for their trip on Sunday.

This series will be a welcome return to the field for both teams, with inclement weather wreaking havoc on last weekend’s schedule. The Twins had three games postponed and last played on Thursday, while the Indians last played on Friday then saw two games washed away.

These two games between the American League Central foes are technically home games for the Twins.
