Dexter Fowler’s wife re-scheduled her C-section so he could hang out with Anthony Rizzo

Best wife in the entire world. The ENTIRE world.

Dexter Fowler needs to buy his wife Aliya the best push present of all time for their second child, because she is the best wife in the entire world. The greatest baseball wife at least. [Incredibly Gene Rayburn voice] How great is she?

So great that when she was scheduling her C-section for the Fowler’s second child, due in July that she rescheduled it so that Fowler could hang out with Anthony Rizzo. The Rizzos and the Fowlers are close — their daughter ADORES Rizzo and will be a flower girl in his wedding — and have remained so since Fowler signed with the Cardinals after the Cubs won the World Series in 2016.

But close enough that Fowler wouldn’t miss a single game between the Cubs and the Cardinals even for his wife’s C-section? Apparently so. Aliya explained the situation on Instagram, even tagging Rizzo in the story so he’d know the lengths she went to make sure he could see her husband.

In the video, she explains,

“So I text Dex to confirm the date is OK with him, and you know what he said? I’m really only asking him to be nice, like I can’t control when I’m due.

“But he said, ‘That’s not gonna work for me because we play Chicago and I gotta go see Rizzo.’

“So I moved my due date. For you, Anthony Rizzo.”

The Cubs and Cardinals have already played each other in one series this year, and will meet again at the end of the week for a three-game series. They then play each other over two weeks in July, one in Chicago and one in St. Louis. There’s four days between the two series, but there’s no word on whether Aliya went for that window or whether she pushed it to the end of both series.

Either way, that’s commitment to a friendship. Especially when it’s not like Fowler and Rizzo haven’t seen each other for years and are having a dramatic homecoming. But a friendship that strong takes no breaks, and Fowler got what he asked for.

Now he should get to shopping for an amazing thank you present, because his wife is amazing.
