Over the weekend, Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Jameson Taillon told Trib Live that in order to help the cut on his middle finger heal faster he would be open to peeing on it. He got the cut at the tail end of last week, and after he was forced to leave a game early because of it he told the website:
No, Pirates pitcher Jameson Taillon doesn’t actually want people to pee on his hand
Unless it works.

“I said if it helps, I’ll put a sign-up sheet and everyone can come and pee. I don’t care. I just want it to go away.”
Which, listen. Baseball is weird in a lot of ways and players do some questionable stuff. Sometimes it’s funny and sometimes it’s just gross. But they usually don’t do that stuff without there being a reason behind it.
And in this case it makes sense that Taillon would be looking for a way to get back on the mound as fast as possible. Moises Alou notoriously peed on his own hands to help toughen them up and, more recently, Rich Hill also admitted to doing it. So it’s not in any way taboo.
But on Monday Taillon said he was actually just joking and, no, he would rather not have teammates be lining up to pee on his hands.
... Unless it works. In that case, it seems like Taillon might be on board to at least test it out.
