Mike Trout is widely regarded as the best player in baseball, with hardly anything on a baseball diamond outside of his grasp. Yet on Saturday at Yankee Stadium, the Los Angeles Angels star outfielder did something he has never done before in the majors. He had five hits in a win over the New York Yankees.
Mike Trout got 5 hits for the first time in his great career

Trout doubled in the first inning against Sonny Gray, then did so again and scored in the third inning. Trout added a two-run home run in the fourth inning, his 17th of the season to tie Mookie Betts for the major league lead.
In the sixth Trout doubled again to drive in another run, and later scored in the inning. This is the first three-double game in Trout’s career.
A seventh inning single gave Trout a cool five hits, something he has never done before. Trout’s previous high was four hits, done 14 other times.
In the blowout at Yankee Stadium Trout nearly got a sixth at-bat, but was left in the hole in the ninth inning.
Trout this season is hitting .313/.461/.687. Not too shabby.
