This is the latest branch of baseball MLB has found a foothold in, after hosting similar games in Williamsport, Pennsylvania the last few years in tandem with the Little League World Series. The league officially announced the game on Thursday in Omaha.
While Detroit and Kansas City aren’t the most exciting teams to get the nod here based on this season’s results, by next year hopefully this will be an exciting matchup for the players and families making the trip to Omaha for their own tournament.
It’s the first MLB game to ever be played in Nebraska and will be played at TD Ameritrade Park, the same location of the CWS.
