When baseball megastar Shohei Ohtani entered free agency, many teams and fanbases tried their best to pitch him on joining their organization.

Perhaps one of the more brilliant social media campaigns came from Ashley Kelly, the wife of Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Joe Kelly. Ashley began the “#Ohtake17 Campaign” which took social media by storm, where she offered up her husband’s No. 17 as part of her pitch to Ohtani. She also jokingly changed their seven-month-old’s name Kai to ShoKai.

In one of the videos Ashley posted to social media, she offered all the No. 17 apparel she owned, including bedazzled hats, belts, purses, and more:

Well, perhaps the campaign worked, because as you know by now Ohtani picked the Dodgers over the other suitors in free agency, and the No. 17 is no his, as Kelly has agreed to switch to the No. 99.

A decision that he and Ashley announced in incredible fashion:

Now Ohtani is saying thank you to Ashley, with a brand-new Porsche:

“It’s yours. From Shohei,” said the pitcher to his wife. “He wanted to gift you a Porsche. I swear.”

A wonderful gift, from Shohei Claus, on this Christmas.
