FC Dallas president Doug Quinn takes leave of absence after arrest

FC Dallas’ Doug Quinn will take an indefinite leave of absence in the wake of his arrest for alleged domestic abuse.

FC Dallas president Doug Quinn is taking an indefinite leave of absence after being arrested for alleged domestic abuse. The New York police confirmed a New York Post report that Quinn was arrested on Tuesday night after an altercation with his wife at The Alex Hotel in New York City. FC Dallas released a statement on Wednesday afternoon stating that his leave of absence was so he could attend to "personal matters."

“We are aware of the report regarding Doug Quinn,” said John Wagner, president of Hunt Sports Group. “We are in the process of gathering additional information and will have no further comment at this time.”

In the interim, Hunt Sports Group vice president Dan Hunt will run the club.

According to the police report, Quinn and his wife got into a dispute and it quickly escalated, at which point Quinn assaulted her. The report states that Quinn struck his wife with a closed face and “tried to choke his wife.” His wife, Elizabeth Quinn, was taken to a hospital for “swelling, bruising and pain.”

Quinn was charged with one count of second degree strangulation and one count of third degree assault. He was later released on $20,000 bail.
