MLS Cup Final 2012: Landon Donovan converts penalty, Galaxy lead 2-1

After falling behind 1-0 at halftime, the Galaxy have come roaring back to grab the lead.

Just a few minutes after getting the equalizer, the LA Galaxy stormed into the lead on a Landon Donovan penalty that gave them a 2-1 lead over the Houston Dynamo on Saturday in the MLS Cup final. Donovan's goal came in the 67th minute, but the hard work was done by his teammates.

The penalty came after a sequence that started with a Omar Gonzalez putting a header on goal following another dangerous free kick delivery. Adam Moffat was able to get in the way of the header, but his clearance didn't get far. Mike Magee quickly put the rebound on frame, but his overhead shot ricocheted off the arm of a sliding Ricardo Clark. Referee Silviu Petrescu immediately pointed to the spot.

As he has made a habit of doing throughout his career, Donovan calmly stepped up and put the penalty past Dynamo goalkeeper Tally Hall, who was sent diving in the opposite direction.
