It was a very rough first round for Court McGee as he stepped into the Octagon for the first time since winning The Ultimate Fighter. Ryan Jensen managed to drop him with a hard left and dominated standing up. But as the round wore on something became very clear, Jensen was throwing so hard that he was tiring himself out.
UFC 121 Results: Court McGee Comes Back To Submit Ryan Jensen
Trainer John Hackleman told McGee in the corner that he would win on conditioning and in the second round Court began to walk forward and force Jensen to go backward and eat punches and kicks. Jensen was visibly tired and was looking for the big right hand over and over and the lack of technique on the power shots was only serving to tire him out more. After a takedown to end the round it was clear that after losing the first round, Court had come back to even things up.
In the third it was Court who came forward, landed a hard punch and got yet another takedown. From there McGee landed punches, moved to side control, then mount and landed elbows before locking up an arm triangle choke for the win.
