News coming in about Seth Petruzelli’s release shouldn’t be too surprising to most MMA fans. After appearing on the second season of Spike’s ‘The Ultimate Fighter,’ Petruzelli has come and gone three separate times with the promotion since 2006. His latest stint inside the octagon started off well enough with an impressive first round against Ricardo Romero at UFC 116, but ended with him tapping to an armbar in the second.
Seth Petruzelli Released Following Loss At UFC 122

Petruzelli didn't fare any better in his return at UFC 122 facing newcomer Karlos Vemola. In a fight that was tailor made for him to be successful — facing an inexperienced brawler with little to no ground game — Petruzelli collapsed under the pressure and suffered an early first round TKO loss.
↵The good news is that Seth seems to be a popular last minute choice for an injury replacement and a competent heavyweight that can round out a card. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back in the octagon sooner rather than later.
