Stevenson attempted to be aggressive and outstrike Danzig, he came forward the whole fight and was leaping in with overhand punches. Danzig did the technically correct thing and circled and kept his distance. When Stevenson would jump in, Danzig would throw short counter punches. They didn’t look to have too much power on them, instead looking like he may just look to outpoint “Joe Daddy.”

But as Stevenson continued jumping in, Danzig threw a perfect left hook counter that landed to Stevenson’s jaw and knocked him out cold. Two hammerfists followed from Danzig, but they weren’t needed as Stevenson was clearly unconscious.

Alves worked a very simple game of hard leg kicks, counter punches and two punch combinations that kept Howard from getting comfortable. At multiple points in the fight Alves was able to stun Howard with hard punches but John showed great heart in getting up and going right back to his aggressive “come forward” style. Howard was also limping at several points in the bout as his leg was brutalized by hard kicks.

All three judges saw the bout a clean sweep, 30-27, for Alves and SB Nation saw the same.
