48-year-old pro football legend Herschel Walker makes his second plunge into MMA on Saturday night taking on relative unknown Scott Carson. All indications seem to show that Carson was brought into to be the proverbial sacrificial lamb in this campy matchup, but I wouldn't be shocked to see him play spoiler. This is MMA and stranger things have happened when promotions decide to deal in publicity stunts.

↵This fight is mildly amusing to some MMA fans but I think it will be largely panned and ignored. While it’s admirable for someone of Walker’s stature to take on such an immense challenge as beginning an MMA career at nearly 50 years old, one has to really struggle with the idea of why anyone would do this. I just hope he gets whatever it is he’s looking for out of this experience. His name undeniably draws attention to the sport, something immensely positive if treated properly.
