Many experts felt that Roger Gracie was taking too big of a step up for his fourth mixed martial arts fight when he faced tough veteran Trevor Prangley. Prangley has fought some very tough opponents and is well rounded while many saw Gracie as little more than a jiu-jitsu expert. Roger was more than happy to prove the experts wrong with a first round submission win.
Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Cyborg Results - Roger Gracie Submits Trevor Prangley In Round One
Prangley looked hesitant to engage early on while Gracie used his reach to keep the fight at the distance he wanted. Early in the round Gracie closed distance and took the fight to the ground. From there he patiently improved position and secured mount. Prangley attempted to use the cage to scramble back to his feet but Gracie rolled with him and secured the back. From there it was a matter of locking in a body triangle and getting the choke locked in.
The win improved Gracie to 4-0 and will be in a good position to get an even bigger fight his next time out.
