Scott Carson went 4-0 as a professional before taking 9 years off and returning in 2010 with a loss. He was tabbed to fight former NCAA football great Herschel Walker in Walkers second ever MMA fight. Walker wasted no time in proving that he is improving as a fighter by dropping Carson twice in the stand-up and controlling the action on the ground.
Strikeforce: Diaz Vs. Cyborg Results - Herschel Walker Destroys Scott Carson
Carson threw a headkick early and Walker blitzed him with punches, dropping him in the process. Scott looked to lock up a leglock early but Walker improved position and forced Carson to turtle while riding his back. Walker landed punches constantly in this position, eventually forcing Carson to try to scramble back to his feet. As he tried to stand it was a big shot to the chin that dropped him again and forced the referee to call a halt to the bout.
At 48 years old it’s unlikely we’ll ever see Walker advance to face the best fighters in the world, but watching the development of a fantastic athlete is always fun for fans of mixed martial arts.
