Strikeforce: Diaz Vs. Cyborg Results - Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza Submits Robbie Lawler

Robbie Lawler had gone years without losing a fight at 185 pounds but that streak came to an end with a third round rear naked choke by Jacare Souza. The fight was a great back-and-forth fight that had great moments for both guys.

The first round saw an early takedown for Souza where he worked the side control position and landed some strikes. Lawler managed to escape back to his feet and land some hard punches that put Jacare on rubber legs. As Jacare stumbled around the cage, Lawler unloaded with more shots and put Souza on his back. Rather than force him to get back up where Robbie may have finished the fight he chose to go to the ground. Jacare recovered and was ready in the second round.

In round two it was Jacare again getting the takedown but this time he kept control the entire round, landing punches to Lawler’s face throughout the frame. In the third it was another takedown but this time as Lawler scrambled he got his back taken and a rear naked choke quickly followed.

Jacare retained his Strikeforce middleweight tile with the victory.
