UFC 127 Preliminary Fights To Be Aired On Ion, Facebook
UFC 127's card isn't really the organization's strongest line-up, but the fights are respectable and now they're significantly more watchable. As you can see from the video above, the following two fights will now be streamed on Facebook:
Anthony Perosh (10-6) vs. Tom Blackledge (10-6)
Tiequan Zhang (12-1) vs. Jason Reinhardt (20-1)
In addition, more preliminary fights will be available for viewing on the Ion network. Those include:
Ross Pearson (11-4) vs. Spencer Fisher (24-6)
James Te Huna (12-4) vs. Alexander Gustafsson (10-1)
Some pan the move to Ion and admittedly the network’s visibility is low. However, I had a television executive familiar with MMA television dynamics suggest the numbers the UFC pulled for their first showing there (875,000) is astounding given just how little anyone knows about Ion. To be able to yank those kinds of numbers on a channel that is in no way a destination is a strong demonstration of having a trained and dedicated audience of more than negligible size.
