Jared Rosholt, Brother Of Jake Rosholt, Makes MMA Debut
The above video is the mixed martial arts debut of Jared Rosholt, the brother of former UFC middleweight Jake Rosholt. The younger Rosholt is a bigger man, wrestling for Oklahoma State at 285lbs. He's not as credentialed as his brother, but his amateur wrestling resume is nonetheless impressive: he was 2010 NCAA runner-up and a three-time All-American.
As for this fight, Rosholt is obviously green. He’s got a ton of work to do, even in the MMA wrestling department (he shot in without setting it up with strikes first, albeit against an opponent where that didn’t matter). Still, at heavyweight, MMA’s weakest division, the younger Rosholt is worth keeping an eye on. That he fell short of a national title in college means little to nothing in terms of his prospects for a career in professional MMA. His training, development and progress are open questions, but an athlete of this caliber with his background is always someone to watch.
