I recently caught up with UFC 128 heavyweight competitor Brendan Schaub. Schaub takes on Mirko Filipovic in the opening bout of the main card pay-per-view broadcast. I talked to Schaub not only about fighting CroCop, but other players in the MMA universe. He also had some clear words for the Strikeforce heavyweight tournament. Details on the interview below.
UFC 128 Fight Card: Brendan Schaub Doesn’t Have A Right To Trash Mirko CroCop
As part of the UFC 128 fight card, Brendan Schaub is set to take on Mirko CroCop in a heavyweight clash. Schaub opens up about preparing for CroCop’s speed, his thoughts on the Strikeforce heavyweight tournament and how he doesn’t have the right to trash talk a MMA legend.

1:10 Thoughts on Dan Henderson's win over Rafael Cavalcante
1:56 Winner of Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix not the number one heavyweight in MMA.
“No, if you’re not in the UFC, man, you can’t claim to be number one. I think we have the best fighters in the UFC, especially in the heavyweight division. We’re the NFL of the mixed martial arts world and if you’re not competing against the best fight in and fight out then you can’t claim number one. There’s some really tough guys in that tournament, but I don’t think they can take the rank as number one.”
2:25 Not surprised at the way Fedor Emelianenko lost to Antonio Silva
3:04 A perfectly healthy, in-shape Shane Carwin wrecks the tournament
4:05 Why he's ready to fight CroCop and why he deserves to be fighting someone of this caliber right now in his career
4:51 CroCop's speed is his biggest threat
5:25 Schaub states he believes he's faster than CroCop
6:01 If he can beat CroCop it's a career defining win for him
6:33 Schaub explains that being a heavyweight means he doesn't spend a ton of time training with Greg Jackson or in New Mexico
7:35 Will be tough for Shogun to emulate Jones' style
8:04 Predicts Jones will win via second round TKO
9:08 Says Eddie Wineland has power, but Urijah should win and should take it to the floor
9:50 Says fighters like Chael Sonnen and Jorge Rivera who go out of their way to promote the fight are a good thing, but says he can't do it to someone like Mirko CroCop because of his legend status.
