Strikeforce 135lbs women's champion Marloes Coenen was in the fight of her life at Strikeforce: Feijao vs. Henderson. After being mounted and absolutely bludgeoned in rounds two and three, the Dutch champion found a way to come back in the fourth round after another takedown. Working a high guard and taking advantage of a transition, Coenen secured a triangle choke and forced Carmouche to tap.
Strikeforce Feijao Vs. Henderson Results: Marloes Coenen Sets Strikeforce Record
Strikeforce results: at Strikeforce: Feijao vs. Henderson, women’s 135lbs champion Marloes Coenen set a record by having the greatest comeback in Strikeforce history after challenger Liz Carmouche nearly upset the Dutch fighter.

Marloes Coenen's triangle to submit Liz Carmouche in the fourth round of their fight came only after she has absorbed 238 total strikes along the way. At the same time, Coenen had only landed 42 total strikes of her own. That gives her the distinction of coming back from the largest striking deficit in Strikeforce history, coming from behind after being outlanded by 196 total strikes. That more than doubles the previous record of an 84 strike deficit, achieved by Antonio Silva in his comeback win against Mike Kyle just three months ago.
If one didn’t see the fight, it’s numerical evidence like this that gives one a sense of how monumental the comeback actually was. Credit to Coenen for having the wherewithal to aggressively attempt submissions after a thorough lashing.
