Diego Sanchez, Martin Kampmann Receive UFC On Versus 3 Medical Suspensions
It was a three-round bloody, brutal war. Diego Sanchez and Martin Kampmann smashed each other to pieces in the main event at UFC on Versus 3 on March 3, 2011 in Louisville, Kentucky. Subsequently, the Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Authority inventoried the aftermath and on Monday issues medical suspensions.
Neither Sanchez nor Kampmann can fight until they get medical clearance. Sanchez must get clearance for possible damage to his left orbital, while Kampmann must get his right hand cleared.
Three other fighters also received precautionary suspensions after being knocked out at the KFC Yum! Center on Thursday night. Todd Brown, Thiago Tavares, and C.B. Dollaway all must wait at least 60 days before they are allowed to fight again.
KBWA Board Administrator Angela Robertson said that Kentucky did not conduct any drug testing for the event.
UFC VP Marc Ratner said independent testing was conducted at the event of both Sanchez and Kampmann as well as four other randomly-selected fighters.
