VIDEO: Fedor Emelianenko Vs. Dan Henderson Talk
After he proposed the match-up in an article, I had AOL's Mike Chiappetta on my radio show to talk about a potential Fedor Emelianenko vs. Dan Henderson superfight in Strikeforce. Rumors are now swirling that the fight may end up happening, so I wanted to dig deeper into topics. From the description of the interview:
Strikeforce is close to booking a Fedor Emelianenko vs. Dan Henderson super fight for their July pay-per-view show. Mike Chiappetta of AOL’s MMA Fighting spoke to Luke Thomas of SB Nation and CBS Radio about this fight. Chiappetta was the first member of the media to go public with the idea, so Thomas talked to him about why the fight makes sense, if it’s actually feasible, whether Fedor can make light heavyweight and who would be the odds on favorite to win.
Chiappetta and I both struggled to come up with odds and an early line, which tells me it'd be close. It was a sensational piece of matchmaking from Chiappetta and if the fight is finally made, it will be interesting to see what the bout does for each fighter's career. Frankly, Emelinanenko vaunted position in MMA hierarchy has more room to fall. Henderson's accomplishments, as good as they are, come in between lower points and missteps in his career. He's surged against after beating Rafael Cavalcante while Emelinanenko is hanging on for relevance as a top-level heavyweight fighter.
