Pacquiao vs. Mosley Results: Pier Olivier Cote Stops Aris Ambriz In Four

Pier Olivier Cote (15-0) took on Aris Ambriz (15-1-1) in the opening bout of the Showtime Extreme Red Carpet coverage of the Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley event. The bout was fought in the light welterweight division.

Both men landed heavy right hands in an exciting opening frame with Cote getting the better of the round as a whole. Cote’s willingness and ability to go to the body to set up power punches to the head led to a very big second round where he was able to hurt Ambriz at multiple times. It became clear by the time the second round came to a close that Ambriz didn’t have the defense to deal with the speed and power of Cote.

Ambriz got caught by a two punch combo in round three that sent him to the ground and the fight continued to get more and more out of reach, leading Tony Weeks to watching closely and looking ready to jump in at any point for the rest of the round. Cote wasn’t able to finish the fight in round three but as Cote continued to land in the fourth it led to Weeks jumping in and calling a halt to the bout.
