VIDEO: UFC’s Nate Marquardt Cuts Weight No Problem For UFC On Versus 4
Nate Marquardt had been set to make his welterweight debut tonight at UFC on Versus 4 against Rick Story, but Pennsylviania authorities refused to grant him medical clearance and he has been pulled from the card. Shortly after that news was announced, UFC President Dana White also announced that Marquardt had been cut by the UFC.
There has been some speculation that Marquardt was struggling with a big weight cut and PA officials wouldn’t let him continue out of concern for his health. This video, shot by E. Casey Leydon, shows clearly that this was not the case as Marquardt has no difficultly making the 170lb welterweight limit.
Charlie Brenneman stepped up to face Rick Story on the main card, although Pat Barry vs Cheick Kongo is now the official headliner. Brenneman had originally been scheduled to fight T.J. Grant on the undercard, but Grant had to bow out due to illness last week.
