David Haye’s trainer, Adam Booth, recently told The Telegraph that he believes that the reputation of Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko as gentlemen is not entirely true. The negotiation issues between Haye and the brothers has become a bit of a theme over the past few years. But now, we sit a day away from David and Wladimir stepping into the ring for a heavyweight championship showdown and Booth is ready to be vocal about the issues he sees with the Klitschko brothers as bullies:
Wladimir Klitschko Vs. David Haye - Haye’s Trainer Doesn’t Consider Klitschko Brothers ‘Gentlemen’
“The Klitschkos hold, lean, and push in their fights,” said Booth. “Those things corrupt the course of fights, and are not in the rule book. Wladimir and the people around him are passive-aggressive bullies. It takes more than a suit, well-coiffed hair and a tie done up to make a gentleman and be respectful.”
...
“They go on about respect, but the way they go about their business with their opponents and the contracts they have is about as far from respectful as you can be. They get away with as much greed and bullying as they can,” Booth said.
The “jab-and-grab” strategy of the Klitschkos is something that Haye has been harping on and I’m sure that it’s a continued effort to try to make Wladimir a bit more aggressive than he would normally be to leave openings for Haye’s speed to counter.
