UFC welterweights Carlos Condit and Dong Hyun Kim meet at UFC 132 in Las Vegas, Nevada in a fight with clear title shot implications. Both men are bringing 3 fight win streaks into the bout (Kim technically has a 5 fight win streak going, but there was a loss to Karo Parisyan that became a no contest in that run).
UFC 132 Fight Card Breakdown: Carlos Condit Vs. Dong Hyun Kim
Condit is a gritty, rangy former WEC welterweight champion who has shown he’s got big league heart and skills since coming to the UFC. He’s a vicious Muay Thai fighter on the feet, with particularly nasty knees and elbows in the clinch. On the ground his jiu jitsu is top notch. Unfortunately Condit’s wrestling is not his strong suit.
Kim is a judoka who also has excellent wrestling skills. That combination means he’s got many many ways to take his opponent down. Unlike many judo players who come to MMA, and he’s very good at keeping his man on the mat once he has him there.
For all of Condit’s considerable advantages in the striking range, Kim is stylistic kryptonite and should be able to take Condit down again and again and cruise to a judges decision.
