Strikeforce Fedor Vs. Henderson Fight Card: Televised Showtime Line Up Announced For July 30

Strikeforce today announced the final match ups that will be featured on the "Fedor vs. Henderson" main card, which will air live on Showtime at 10 p.m. ET from the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill., on July 30, 2011.

The event will feature a "super fight" main event between two former Pride FC champions, and mixed martial arts (MMA) legends, Fedor Emelianenko and Dan Henderson, in a heavyweight showdown for the ages. Emelianenko, widely regarded as the most talented fighter in the history of the sport up until suffering back-to-back losses, will look to get back on the winning track against the promotion's reigning light heavyweight champion in a non-title fight.

In the co-featured fight of the evening, Marloes Coenen will put her 135-pound belt on the line once again against Miesha Tate, a strong wrestler who has compiled a solid record (11-2) against top competition since her professional career began back in late 2007.

It’s a one-two punch that Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker is “proud” to promote:

“Fedor versus Hendo is the super fight fans have been waiting for and we’re proud to have also stacked the rest of this card with exciting fights. Marloes has proven to be one of the best women’s mixed martial artists on the planet, but Miesha could be her toughest challenge yet.”

Rounding out the remainder of the televised action is a middleweight slugfest between hard-hitting Robbie Lawler and U.S. Army Green Beret Tim Kennedy, as well as knockout artist Paul Daley testing his power against the wrestling prowess of undefeated Tyron Woodley.

Exciting welterweights Scott Smith and Tarec Saffiedine will kickoff the telecast for the type of card that Coker promises "will deliver some explosive fights."
