Nate Marquardt’s Suspension Lifted By Pennsylvania Authorities

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission has lifted its suspension of former UFC fighter Nate Marquardt. The PSAC refused to license Marquardt for a bout against Rick Story at UFC Live 4 on June 26, 2011. PSAC executive director Greg Sirb confirmed today that Marquardt's suspension has been lifted in an email to MMA Weekly.

The Marquardt-Story bout had been planned to headline the card until Marquardt failed a blood test administered by the New Jersey State Athletic Commission on June 18. The NJSAC had been monitoring Marquardt's testosterone levels after he applied for a theraputic use exemption (TUE) to receive testosterone replacement therepy (TRT) before his UFC 128 bout with Dan Miller at UFC 128.

Marquardt was fired by UFC President Dana White immediately after PSAC authorities refused to license him for the Story fight. So far he has not signed with another promotion although there has been a good deal of online speculation that he is headed to Bellator where he would be a formidable addition to either their middleweight or welterweight divisions.
