Later today, when Wladimir Klitschko and David Haye meet in Germany, it will be the end of a tremendously long journey. One has to go all the way back to 2008 when Haye first confronted Wladimir about wanting a fight. Since then we’ve seen Haye call out Wlad and brother Vitali repeatedly, have fights scheduled and canceled with both brothers and get under their skin with taunts.
Wladimir Klitschko Vs. David Haye - Haye Confronts Klitschko In 2008
Bad Left Hook pointed everyone toward this video of the first meeting between Haye and Klitschko:
Klitschko tries to blow Haye off here but Haye insists that he deserves the fight by his cruiserweight accomplishments. This was a period where Haye was easy to pull for as he wanted the big challenge and wanted to force the brothers to fight someone who was more of a test than Tony Thompson.
Since 2008 the tide of public opinion and good will has shifted hard in favor of Wladimir heading into this afternoon’s bout. Haye amped his act up to 11 and turned a lot of people off. Now, David’s only job is to force the public to respect him by pulling off a huge win.
