The weather is looking like it may be a factor in the bout between Wladimir Klitschko and David Haye. With it being an outdoor event, the fact that it is raining very hard and has been for quite some time is a concern. It was decided yesterday that fighters will wear “boots” to the ring to not track water onto the canvas but it’s still not ideal conditions for a fight.
Wladimir Klitschko Vs. David Haye - Rain May Be An Issue, But Fight Is A Go
ESPN’s Dan Rafael tweeted about some of the decision making process:
Rain issue was discussed at Friday rules meeting. IF fight had to be called for weather before 4th round ended it would be a no contest.
Fight is a go but I'm told powers that be have huddled to discuss possible alternative plans IF (IF!) weather is THAT bad. #dontpulloutnow
BBC blogger Ben Dirs added:
No danger of the fight being called off, they have a canopy over the ring. Not much of a canopy, apparently no-one wanted to pay for it...
We’ll keep you up to speed on any major changes, but as of right now there looks to be no danger of the fight being called off.
