James Kirkland and Peter Quillin won their respective bouts on the undercard of the Amir Khan vs. Zab Judah bout. The event, live from the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, saw the undercard fighters battling in front of a very sparse crowd. Max Boxing scribe Steve Kim had some quite unkind things to say about the attendance:
Khan Vs. Judah Undercard Results: James Kirkland & Peter Quillin Victorious
Not saying it's empty here at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, but the ghost of Paul Revere is yelling,"the Brits aren't coming!!!" #boxing
and the thing is, the Mandalay Bay was giving away tickets, too. So in other words, tix couldn't be given away... #khanjudah #boxing
Still, the main event does matter and these undercard fights matter to the fighters involved.
Kirkland won his second straight bout since the shocking first round TKO loss to Nobuhiro Ishida by stopping Alexis Hloros in the second round. Quillin stopped Jason LeHoullier in the fifth round to improve to 25-0 (19 KO) in his career.
