Ross Chastain is a household name in the world of NASCAR. He drives fast. Everyone knows that.
Ross Chastain’s watermelon background is one of the most unique things in sports

By now everybody understands his family’s history as watermelon farmers, too. Ross is The Watermelon Smasher and seeing it means that good things have happened to him on the track.
Ross is a man of many talents and experiences, and someone who is that versatile knows full well that Busch LIght and their Farming Cans and Farm Rescue partnership are the appropriate way to spend summer.
- Busch Light Farming Cans return for summer 2026, with proceeds up to $200,000 donated to Farm Rescue, supporting farm and ranch families.
- The cans also feature the U.S. Farmed seal, indicating at least 95% of Busch Light’s ingredients are U.S.-grown.
- Anheuser-Busch also recently launched the ComBar — a first‑of‑its‑kind mobile bar built from a real combine harvester to honor American farmers.
- As a leading American manufacturer, Anheuser-Busch has been proudly committed and connected to American farmers for more than 165 years. Each year, the company spends $700 million sourcing nearly all of the high-quality ingredients
With all due respect to his day job, Ross’ background in watermelons is what I found most fascinating when I had a chance to sit down with him. He takes great pride in his watermelon background and even gave me some tips on finding the proper watermelons when picking them out in the grocery store.
Ultimately Ross noted that growing up farming watermelons helped instill in him the disposition that he carries into races. Sometimes you have to do things the hard way and grit your way through different challenges, and it goes without saying that life in NASCAR can offer those.
